General information on data protection (Datenschutz)
We take the protection of the data of the users of our website very seriously and are committed to protecting the information that users provide to us in connection with the use of our website. Furthermore, we are committed to protecting and using your data in accordance with applicable law. This privacy policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use and disclosure of your data through the use of our digital assets (the “Services”) when you access the Services via your devices.
Please read the privacy policy carefully and make sure that you fully understand our practices regarding your data before you use our Services. If you have read and fully understood this policy and do not agree with our approach, you must stop using our digital assets and Services. By using our Services, you acknowledge the terms of this privacy policy. Continued use of the Services constitutes your consent to this privacy policy and any amendments to it.
What data do we collect?
-
Unidentified and non-identifiable information that you provide during the registration process or that is collected through the use of our Services (“non-personal data”). Non-personal data does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about who it was collected from. The non-personal data we collect consists mainly of technical and aggregated usage information.
-
Individually identifiable information, i.e. all information by which you can be identified or could be identified with reasonable effort (“personal data” (personenbezogene Daten)). The personal data we collect through our Services may include information requested from time to time, such as names, email addresses, postal addresses, telephone numbers, IP addresses and more. If we combine personal data with non-personal data, we treat the combined data as personal data for as long as it remains combined.
How do we collect data?
-
We collect data when you use our Services. So when you visit our digital assets and use our Services, we may collect, record and store the usage, sessions and related information.
-
We collect data that you provide to us yourself, for example when you contact us directly via a communication channel (e.g. an email with a comment or feedback).
-
We may collect data from third-party sources, as described below.
-
We collect data that you provide to us when you log in to our Services via a third-party provider such as Facebook or Google.
Why do we collect this data?
-
to provide and operate our Services;
-
to develop, customise and improve our Services;
-
to respond to your feedback, enquiries and requests and to offer help;
-
to analyse demand and usage patterns;
-
for other internal, statistical and research purposes;
-
to improve our data security and fraud prevention capabilities;
-
to investigate violations and enforce our terms and policies, and to comply with applicable law, regulations or official orders;
-
to send you updates, news, promotional material and other information relating to our Services. In the case of promotional emails, you can decide for yourself whether you wish to continue receiving them. If not, simply click on the unsubscribe link in these emails.
Who do we share this data with?
-
We may share your data with our service providers in order to operate our Services (e.g. storing data via third-party hosting services, providing technical support, etc.).
-
We may also disclose your data in the following circumstances: (i) to investigate, detect, prevent or take action against unlawful activities or other misconduct; (ii) to establish or exercise our rights of defence; (iii) to protect our rights, our property or our personal safety and the safety of our users or the public; (iv) in the event of a change of control of us or of one of our affiliated companies (by way of a merger, acquisition or purchase of (substantially) all assets, etc.); (v) to collect, hold and/or manage your data through authorised third-party providers (e.g. cloud service providers), insofar as this is appropriate for business purposes; (vi) to work together with third-party providers to improve your user experience. For the avoidance of doubt, we would like to point out that we may transfer, share or otherwise use non-personal data to third parties at our own discretion.
Who is responsible for this data?
-
Data processing on this website is carried out by the website operator. You can find the operator's contact details in the legal notice (Impressum) of this website.
What rights do you have regarding your data?
-
You have the right at any time to receive information free of charge about the origin, recipients and purpose of your stored personal data. You also have the right to request the correction, blocking or deletion of this data. For this purpose, and for any further questions on the subject of data protection, you can contact us at any time at the address given in the legal notice. Furthermore, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority (Aufsichtsbehörde).
2. Further information and mandatory information
Rights of the data subject (betroffene Person)
If the legal requirements are met, you have the following rights under Art. 15 to 20 GDPR (DSGVO): the right of access, to rectification, to erasure, to restriction of processing and to data portability.
In addition, under Art. 21 (1) GDPR you have the right to object (Widerspruchsrecht) to processing based on Art. 6 (1) f GDPR, as well as to processing for the purposes of direct marketing.
Revocation of your consent to data processing
Many data processing operations are only possible with your express consent (Einwilligung). You can revoke consent you have already given at any time. An informal notification by email to us is sufficient for this. The lawfulness of the data processing carried out until the revocation remains unaffected by the revocation.
Objection to advertising emails
We hereby object to the use of contact data published as part of the legal notice obligation (Impressumspflicht) for sending advertising and information material that has not been expressly requested. The operators of these pages expressly reserve the right to take legal action in the event of unsolicited advertising information being sent, for example by spam emails.
Right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority
In the event of breaches of data protection law, the data subject has the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority. The competent supervisory authority for data protection matters is the state data protection commissioner (Landesdatenschutzbeauftragter) of the federal state in which our company is based. A list of data protection officers and their contact details can be found at the following link: https://www.bfdi.bund.de/DE/Infothek/Anschriften_Links/anschriften_links-node.html.
Right to data portability
You have the right to have data that we process automatically on the basis of your consent or in fulfilment of a contract handed over to you or to a third party in a common, machine-readable format. If you request the direct transfer of the data to another controller, this will only be done insofar as it is technically feasible
3. Data collection on our website
Where do we store the collected data?
-
Please note that our companies as well as our trusted partners and service providers are located around the world. For the purposes explained in this privacy policy, we store and process all non-personal data that we collect in different jurisdictions.
-
Personal data may be maintained, processed and stored in the United States, Ireland, South Korea, Taiwan, Israel and, insofar as necessary for the proper provision of our Services and/or required by law (as further explained below), in other jurisdictions.
How long is the data retained?
-
Please note that we retain the collected data for as long as is necessary to provide our Services, to comply with our legal and contractual obligations towards you, to resolve disputes and to enforce our agreements. We may correct, supplement or delete inaccurate or incomplete data at any time at our own discretion.
How do we protect the data?
-
The hosting service for our digital assets provides us with the online platform through which we can offer you our Services. Your data may be stored via our hosting provider's data storage, databases and general applications. It stores your data on secure servers behind a firewall and offers secure HTTPS access to most areas of its services.
-
All payment options offered by us and our hosting provider for our digital assets comply with the regulations of the PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) of the PCI Security Standards Council. This is a collaboration of brands such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. PCI-DSS requirements help to ensure the secure handling of credit card data (including physical, electronic and procedural measures) by our shop and service providers.
-
Notwithstanding the measures and efforts taken by us and our hosting provider, we cannot and do not guarantee absolute protection and absolute security of the data that you upload, publish or otherwise share with us or others. For this reason, we ask you to set secure passwords and, where possible, not to send us or others any confidential information whose disclosure you believe could cause you significant or lasting harm. As email and instant messaging are not considered secure forms of communication, we also ask you not to share any confidential information via either of these communication channels.
Cookies
Some of our web pages use so-called cookies. Cookies do not harm your computer and do not contain viruses. Cookies serve to make our offering more user-friendly, effective and secure. Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer and stored by your browser.
Most of the cookies we use are so-called “session cookies”. They are automatically deleted at the end of your visit. Other cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them. These cookies enable us to recognise your browser on your next visit.
You can set your browser so that you are informed about the setting of cookies and only allow cookies in individual cases, exclude the acceptance of cookies for certain cases or in general, and activate the automatic deletion of cookies when closing the browser. If cookies are deactivated, the functionality of this website may be limited.
Cookies that are required to carry out the electronic communication process or to provide certain functions you have requested (e.g. shopping cart function) are stored on the basis of Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest (berechtigtes Interesse) in storing cookies for the technically error-free and optimised provision of its services. Insofar as other cookies (e.g. cookies for analysing your browsing behaviour) are stored, these are dealt with separately in this privacy policy.
Server log files
You can visit our web pages without providing any personal information.
Each time our website is accessed, usage data is transmitted by your internet browser to us or our web host / IT service provider and stored in log data (so-called server log files). This stored data includes, for example, the name of the page accessed, the date and time of access, the IP address, the amount of data transferred and the requesting provider. Processing is carried out on the basis of Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR on the basis of our overriding legitimate interest in ensuring the trouble-free operation of our website and in improving our offering.
Contact form
If you send us enquiries via the contact form, your details from the enquiry form, including the contact details you provide there, will be stored by us for the purpose of processing the enquiry and in the event of follow-up questions. We do not pass on this data without your consent.
The processing of the data entered in the contact form is therefore based exclusively on your consent (Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR). You can revoke this consent at any time. An informal notification by email to us is sufficient for this. The lawfulness of the data processing operations carried out until the revocation remains unaffected by the revocation.
The data you enter in the contact form will remain with us until you ask us to delete it, revoke your consent to storage or the purpose for storing the data no longer applies (e.g. after your enquiry has been processed). Mandatory statutory provisions – in particular retention periods – remain unaffected.
Registration on this website
You can register on our website in order to use additional functions on the site. We use the data entered for this purpose only for the purpose of using the respective offer or service for which you have registered. The mandatory information requested during registration must be provided in full. Otherwise we will reject the registration.
For important changes, for example to the scope of the offering or technically necessary changes, we use the email address provided during registration to inform you in this way.
The processing of the data entered during registration is based on your consent (Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR). You can revoke any consent you have given at any time. An informal notification by email to us is sufficient for this. The lawfulness of the data processing already carried out remains unaffected by the revocation.
The data collected during registration is stored by us for as long as you are registered on our website and is deleted afterwards. Statutory retention periods remain unaffected.
Processing of data (customer and contract data)
We collect, process and use personal data only insofar as it is necessary for the establishment, content or amendment of the legal relationship (inventory data (Bestandsdaten)). This is done on the basis of Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR, which permits the processing of data for the performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures. We collect, process and use personal data about the use of our web pages (usage data (Nutzungsdaten)) only insofar as this is necessary to enable the user to use the service or to bill for it.
The customer data collected will be deleted after completion of the order or termination of the business relationship. Statutory retention periods remain unaffected.
Data transfer upon conclusion of a contract for online shops, retailers and shipping of goods
We only transfer personal data to third parties if this is necessary in the context of contract processing, for example to the companies entrusted with the delivery of the goods or the credit institution commissioned with payment processing. Any further transfer of the data will not take place, or will only take place if you have expressly consented to the transfer. Your data will not be passed on to third parties without your express consent, for example for advertising purposes.
The basis for data processing is Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR, which permits the processing of data for the performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures.

Sofortüberweisung (instant bank transfer)
On our website we offer, among other things, payment via “Sofortüberweisung”. The provider of this payment service is Sofort GmbH, Theresienhöhe 12, 80339 München (hereinafter “Sofort GmbH”).
With the help of the “Sofortüberweisung” procedure, we receive a payment confirmation from Sofort GmbH in real time and can begin fulfilling our obligations immediately.
If you have chosen the “Sofortüberweisung” payment method, you transmit your PIN and a valid TAN to Sofort GmbH, with which it can log in to your online banking account. After logging in, Sofort GmbH automatically checks your account balance and carries out the transfer to us using the TAN you have transmitted. It then immediately sends us a transaction confirmation. After logging in, your transactions, the credit limit of the overdraft facility and the existence of other accounts and their balances are also checked automatically.
In addition to the PIN and the TAN, the payment data you enter and data about your person are also transmitted to Sofort GmbH. The data about your person comprises first and last name, address, telephone number(s), email address, IP address and, if applicable, other data required for payment processing. The transmission of this data is necessary in order to establish your identity beyond doubt and to prevent attempted fraud.
Your data is transmitted to Sofort GmbH on the basis of Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR (consent) and Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR (processing for the performance of a contract). You have the option of revoking your consent to data processing at any time. A revocation does not affect the validity of data processing operations carried out in the past.
Details on payment with Sofortüberweisung can be found at the following links: https://www.sofort.de/datenschutz.html and https://www.klarna.com/sofort/.

Please check this privacy policy regularly for changes. In the event of material changes, we will publish a notice on our website. If you continue to use the Services after being notified of changes on our website, this constitutes your acknowledgement of and consent to the changes to the privacy policy and your agreement to be bound by the terms of these changes.
