💼 Checklist for existing businesses
Business registration
-
What you need:
A valid business registration (Gewerbeanmeldung) is essential for entering into a lease. It is your first step into entrepreneurship and shows that your business is officially registered.
-
How to proceed:
Visit the trade office (Gewerbeamt) of your town or municipality with your ID card and, if applicable, further documents such as a business plan or rental agreement. Fees vary depending on the location and type of business. After registering, you receive a business registration number that is used in all official documents and transactions.
BWA (business evaluation)
-
What you need:
To demonstrate the financial health of your business, business evaluations (BWA – the standard German interim financial report) are important. Lessors review them to decide whether you are creditworthy and solvent.
-
How to proceed:
Have your tax adviser prepare a monthly or quarterly BWA, or use accounting software. The BWA should show your income, expenses and cash flows in detail. Make sure it is always up to date and accurate to make a good impression on lessors.
Your individual quote
-
What you need:
A tailored leasing quote is important to ensure the leasing terms are ideal for your business.
-
How to proceed:
Send us a detailed description of your requirements, including the type of leased asset, the desired term and your budget. Our team will then prepare a quote tailored precisely to your business’s needs and financial means.
🚀 Checklist for start-ups
Proof of revenue
-
One of the leasing companies that works with new businesses always requires "proof of revenue" from the new business before the process continues. The leasing company’s aim is to make legally sure (under German law) that it is dealing with a business and not a consumer. Of course, a new business has no revenue at the start, so this can be ensured with a "trick": the customer transfers EUR 10 from their own account to their business account with the payment reference "Voucher for snack vending machine".
The leasing bank then needs a screenshot of the transaction as proof.
Payslips for the last 3 months
-
What you need:
To prove your financial reliability, lessors require your payslips for the last three months. These are particularly important if you are looking for a private lease or a business lease without a long company history.
-
How to proceed:
Collect your payslips for the last three months from your employer or, if you are self-employed, proof of your income. These documents should show all key information such as gross salary, deductions and the net amount. Make sure the documents are complete and legible before submitting them with your leasing application.
Self-disclosure form
-
What you need:
A self-disclosure form gives the lessor a detailed overview of your personal and financial circumstances. This document is crucial for assessing your creditworthiness and financial stability.
-
How to proceed:
Fill in the self-disclosure form carefully. Provide precise information about yourself (name, address, date of birth), your employment situation and your financial circumstances (income, liabilities, assets). It is important that all your details are truthful and complete, as this information forms an essential basis for the decision on your leasing application.
