Buying used machines – cheap, but who does it really pay off for?
Who a used machine pays off for – and why technology, quality and function matter more than price.

Used machines can be an attractive way to save money when buying a vending machine or amusement machine. At Boxfreund, too, we regularly offer used machines and demo units from our showroom on favourable terms. But our experience shows: the cheapest machine is not automatically the best investment. Much more important are the quality, the technology and the reliable function of the machine.
Who used machines pay off for
Used machines can be particularly interesting for experienced vending operators. Anyone who already operates machines knows the processes, can assess the technical condition well and knows what matters in maintenance, operation and equipment. A well-chosen used machine is therefore a sensible addition to an existing machine portfolio – for example for an additional location or as a second machine at a spot that is already performing well.
This applies to vending machines just as much as to amusement machines: whether a used snack vending machine, drinks vending machine, boxing machine or claw machine – if you know your locations and your product range, you can expand at low cost with a used machine.
New or used: our recommendation for getting started
For business founders and anyone who wants to buy their first machine, we recommend a new machine instead. Modern technology, up-to-date payment options such as card and smartphone, suitable equipment and reliable operation are especially important when getting started. If you have not yet gained any experience with machines, you should therefore not base your purchase decision on price alone.
A new machine doesn't have to be paid for all at once: with leasing or hire purchase you spread the investment over monthly instalments – even as a new business founder. You will find our range of vending machines and amusement machines in the shop.
What matters when buying used
The key is not to spend as little money as possible, but to buy a machine that fits your business model in the long term. That is why we look at what counts in operation with every machine:
- Technology and function: our used machines are technically tested and come with a warranty.
- Equipment: which payment systems are installed, and what can be retrofitted – card payment, for example?
- Fit: does the machine suit your location, your product range and your customers?
How to get hold of our used machines
The stock, condition and price of our used machines change from week to week. That is why you won't find them as fixed products in the shop, but get them on request: just send us a quick WhatsApp message, and we will send you photos, the price and the payment options for the machines currently available. If you would like to see a machine live first, you can view it by appointment in our showroom in Langenfeld.
At Boxfreund, we make sure you find a machine that suits your plans – which is why we advise you on new and used vending and amusement machines alike. You already have experience with machines and are looking for an inexpensive used machine? Then ask about our currently available used machines.
